NAAA this is just the stick....if i hold it the rattle stops but this just makes my arm tired after a 3 hour drive.
it feels like the ball on the end has worn a little...but this got replaced when i got the quick shift fitted.

I have heard of some people using an 'occy strap' tied around the shifter and the seat bracket, but I've had my quick shift in for a while and it has stopped rattling after about 6 weeks.

Ooo!!! me me me! I know what it is!

It's either the gear lever locating screw is worn (small screw that holds the gear lever in place and stops it from spinning around in it's socket.) Just replace this by removing the gear lever boot and check it for wear. Then while you are there, grease everything up.

Or the anti rattle screw (funnily enough!) it's a screw containing a spring loaded bush that goes into the side of the remote arm. You need to get at it while under the car. pull it out, check it for wear or sticking and replace the bush thingy, grease it up and put it back.

If these two don't solve your problem then sorry to say that your problem may be more severe (ie more $$$ required... like a worn gear lever ball or something like that)

Check the nylon ring that is under the big spring and holds the gearstick down. If this wears, it can't do its job and the stick will rattle.
I have 2 cars with remotes now, no rattles in either..

well mine did this with the old gear lever and then witht he qik shift, it is actually the clamping of the fulcrom Pivot point ball if it is a tad loose it will rattle like nothing, i think i comes down to the spring in the remote housing that the lever sits in is worn/weaker, easy way to fix it like i did is to machine the spacer (make thinner)that clamps the ball down to effectivly put more pressure on the ball.

mine did it, then it stopped now it does it again. It stoped when i changed the gear knob.

I find the best remedy is to rest your knee against it, the only problem is after a long drive your leg becomes numb :D
