I'd probably buy more from Karcraft if they had a decent e-commerce website, as it is, I can do a heck of a lot of web surfing at work without anyone noticing, but cannot spend the same time on the phone talking about mini parts and prices, thus, most of my orders go places where i can order silently!

And if they were open on Saturdays... !

Let's not forget they are meant to be a wholesaler not a retailer are they not?

Buying parts from Karcraft is like buying computer gear from MSY (for those who know who they are ;) ) you've gotta know what you're asking for, they're so busy they don't have time to explain everything to you.

The upside is you get great prices and fast service, even without an online ordering system. Really, a current price list is all you need.

Once you have the catelogue it is quite easy to cut and paste the parts description and no. and put into a spreadsheet and then email it to Karcraft. And this can be done very silently from your desk at work. I know
Quote comes back very fast.

Interesting. willy obviously felt he was spoken to or delt with in a way that he felt was not to his likeing or expectations, hence why he felt the need to mention it on here. Having read so many good things on the forum about Karcraft they must be doing something right though. Personally I don't use them because they have no ecommerce website. Hence why I use Minisport here in SA.
Sorry, but I did laugh at the comment earlier that said to give them a call and they will send you a price list. Isn't that what websites are for?

Just my opinion though.

Well I certainly didn't think it'd get this much of a debate.
It was purely a knee-jerk reaction to "let some steam off".
And nah Matt, not on the payroll

(This is reminding me of all those Coke bottles with dudes' names on it, and everyone posting a pic to facebook of the name they have found - awesome FREE advertising for CocaCola;;; like they need it!!!)

Well, you can go to the site if you'd rather, and email them for a list... they actually sent me a CD with current pricing to install on my PC.

As said above, they are primarily a wholesaler- not just for Mini stuff but lots of other makes too.
This is why they are cheaper than most other suppliers.

As said they are a wholesaler who choose to sell direct to the end consumer without a trade account. I appreciate this fact and it is rare. In other areas I move in (electronics, landscaping, building) in order to get trade prices you have to have an ABN or trade certificate to 'prove' your credentials. I can produce the ABN but not the trade accounts or certificates.

Karcraft won't have your go fast stick on bits but they do have the important bolt on mechanical bits - and good prices. Learn to do business as a trade person and not a retail consumer and you will be rewarded.

I agree with this, I guess it is just learning how they work, once you have the info of what you want it should be easy. I am pretty new to minis and don't know the part numbers so I have a little more to learn. In the end they seem cheap and local and that's all that matters.

I've found Karkraft great. They told me to always email them before I buy to check if they can beat the price. I've followed their advice and they usually put forward a pretty competitive offer. I'll usually get an email back within a couple of minutes too.

If you can surf silently, then you should be able to email silently too.

Good to hear, all too often these days places have websites and contact email addresses and never respond. I sent a couple of emails to the 2 wiring loom places that people on here have recommended at times, one took a few days to get back to me, the other... well i'm still waiting and that was about 8 weeks ago.

If you're not gonna check or respond to your emails, whyt bother having an email address?

Try Somerford Mini in the UK for wiring harnesses ,they work out about half price of the ones here after freight is added and they are much better quality, especially for the earlier minis Their service is excellent. Go to : http://www.somerfordmini.co.uk/eshop/in ... page&id=90 To check a price just click on buy now and it will give you the price, but you need to contact them for freight cost .
