After 2 years without rego since buying her I have started to get her ready for a RWC.

Today, new washer bottle kit with motor and new front retractable seatbelts.

Also picked up some 12" minilite copies and tried a couple on.

After sitting for the better part of 12 or so years........................got to go for a run up the street in Kimini today :D :D !!!

We had only managed to get her firing in the last few weeks, and today the Husband sorted the Carb issue we were having. She started and idled beautifully!!! We let her run for a bit, then took her up the street, for the first drive in a bl00dy long time!

Going to replace rear brake hoses tomorrow, put all mirrors on (have searched ausmini extensively about these friggen bullett mirrors  !), fix up a few little interior bits, put on new bumpers, and take her for another run i spose!! oh and sort out why the wipers no worky :? yet.

Very happy mini owner right here   !!!

Fitted new accelerator cable, but the accelerator pedal stop meant the cable was too short, so had to remove it altogether.
Fitted choke cable.
She started and ran for 8 minutes before overheating again. Will need to drain radiator.
Oil pressure was 60psi.
The new battery from Kmart will not hold charge and won't charge up enough, so need to jump start it.
Saw an older 850 and showed him where the car number is. Nearer the speedo on the drivers side, his plate and Lancaster motors plate is on the other side, near where the bottle should be. A very early 850.

My brother has been having a bit of trouble with batteries from Kmart, he was on his third one (he kept exchanging the crap ones) and he gave up and went to an auto electrician who fitted a new battery.
The auto electrician pointed out that the 3 month old Kmart battery had a code stamped on it saying it was made 3 years ago!

So it pays to check that the Kmart battery is fresh.

Took the little bugger for a spin thru Warrandyte, Kangaroo Ground, Panton Hill, St Andrews then out to King Lake and back thru Yarra Glen.

These roads were made for minis!!

Finally got around to having a crack at fitting the brake booster that I bought from brett a while ago. All good until I got to trying to disconnect the brake line from the splitter so I can do the plumbing. Finally got the nut to break its seal in the splitter, but the hose is still fused to the nut so I can't unscrew it without twisting the pipe. Got a generous squirt of Penetrene soaking in, so hopefully that'll free it up soon & I can get it sorted.

Morris thank you for that.
I put one in my Magnette and it is going ok, but the engine is old and easily started.
The 850 engine has been rebuilt and is tight and needs extra power to start, but I got it to start on its own choke and accelerator, no holding the jet or throttle butterfly.
I will look at the battery, perhaps both of them.

We brought a "new" battery from Kmart on our way up to the Hay Mini Nationals this year and the thing was dead flat  Wasnt happy, luckily Hay has a good little car care place in town. Beware of Kmart batteries
