Replace the clutch hose, it's acting as a check valve (not letting fluid back) so when you push again, clutch assembly goes in further, loads up against the 3 flywheel stops, and it stalls the motor.
Mind you for this to happen, the 2 stop nuts against the clutch cover must be screwed out too far, or they are missing.

Get someone to watch the crank pulley when you push the clutch in...
A little bit of endfloat is normal (might be up to .015" in a worn motor) but if it's moving 1mm or more, the thrust washers are worn out.

Maybe the clutch thrust/throw out (whatever you want to call it) bearing requires replacing as its not spinning freely :?:

Yeah I was going to suggest that might be seized, but the OP said he had all the clutch out, and was fine... :?

the noise might be the crank webs hitting if the thrusts are worn out.???

More likely `dropped out' before this happens...

Morris 1100 found them laying in the box on one of his spare motors.

there sounds like a crank-thrust problem to me

there are some bad (ombinations of cranks & thrusts out there that allow some "pinch" (for want of a better description) on the thrusts into the edge/radius of the crank main-journal

if not sorted then this particular problem will act as tho the thrusts are fitted the wrong way around & grab-up the crank with the foot on the clutch

i`d be ripping it all apart if it were mine

I'd also be careful not to have too little endfloat.. the .003" spec in the manuals is BS for any 1275 that's going to be revved hard. These cranks flex at high rpm and can grab the thrusts if insufficient clearance. I have a run pair of centre main shells to prove it...
All good now, .007" endfloat works just fine.

I'll put my money on the thrust washer still. About a million years ago before I was a mechanical genius, I sent a 1275 (1100S) motor to Repco to get rebuilt. It came back with no thrust washers, which I rectified before fitting to clutch/box parts, only to find after fitting head and puting push rods in, they'd put cam followers in upside down.

Yes I did complain and they supplied me a new conversion kit and T/C gaskets.

Get someone to press the clutch pedal while you observe the crank shaft Pulley (Harmonic Balancer) see if it comes forward when pedal is depressed. Good luck.

It's over throwing, you're trying to push the crank in to the radiator. Fit the Over-throw nut and lock nut or if fitted, adjust them.
