Righty-oh , found the bloody recharger for the camera , little bugger made itself hard to find , so my 1275 auto is factory sprayed 222 Light Bronze Green , there are several small patches of overspray but its very, very obvious there is no Gold paint anywhere

the paint on the gearbox has faded to a pale green silver , on the head a slightly darker pale green silver , there is no paint under the 222 Light Bronze Green

It is not out of a Matic or and 1100 it is?

What is the engine prefix? (does it have cut off rivets in the holes next to the engine number?) I have a theory! :D

Does it have the cut off rivets or empty holes next to the engine number?

Empty holes and the "Y" in the engine number point to it being an Australian produced motor.
It was not fully imported from England or it would have cut off rivets in the holes.

The engine colour was changed for the new model.
It will only have one colour because it was not resprayed like the Matic and Morris 1100 motors.

So I have to assume the E punched under the temperature sender stands for , not sure ?

Well , thats new to me , as far as I knew all the automatics were brought out from England , now to the next point , just when did they stop using BMC paint codes and switch to Leyland Australia paint codes , it must have been at the end of 73 ( engine paint that is )

What do you mean BMC and Leyland Australia paint codes? :?
The codes were Berger and Dulux depending on who made the paint. BMC's own number was the Berger code with their own prefix code in front of it.

Yes , that,s the chart I came across in a thread on MK1 Peformance on " Engine paint - codes , colors etc " ( if I remember rightly ) , the part of the thread that interested me was the brief three or four post discussion on automatics and it was mentioned about the 222, 223 and 224 codes and one gentleman posted the BMC British Standard Color Chart , I don,t exactly remember the rest of the thread but it was mentioned about engine exports and CKD cars , after that I did my own searching and it pretty much confirmed it , I,m happy to admit there are holes in my exact knowledge as in what we have discussed re my engine number

It is not a BMC colour chart. It is a BSC colour chart. It is the British Standard Colours.
It has nothing to do with BMC even if they did use some of the colours. Ford would have used them too.

See , another hole in my knowledge , I was going on what was posted on Mk1 Performance and what I researched seemed to back that up , but if what I posted re the chart is wrong, then its wrong

When looking at the Mini Experience Issue 2 has an article on the DeLuxe. It has a photo of what I expect would be a deluxe engine.... which is light green metallic.

http://miniexperience.com.au/issue-2/mini-deluxe.html

If anyone has issue 2 they might want to check the article out. I don't have issue 2.
