There is a little bit of info on the howley manifold in the link below and also in Vizards big yellow book starting on page 134.

IMO if a manifold doesn't flow well there's no point using it.
The GR manifold outflows all the others hands down, it is worth the slight body mods needed to make it fit.

It is very important to remember what you are building the motor for. If it s going to be a daily driver, or used for weekend cruises, then build it for that. Don't go overboard with a big head, lumpy cam, manifold and exhaust which would be more suited to a race engine. Instead, aim to get a good spread of torque from low down. It will be much better to drive than a motor which doesn't start to make power until around 4,500-5,000rpm.

This manifold is da bomb on a tuned roady 1098 or anything bigger. It has good torque all the way up due to its length and volume, but it is a bit big perhaps for a mild roady 998...

Hmmmm, 10%.. no 20%.... no gotta be 30%...

Sorry, just trying to work out what your commision is doc   (joking, joking :) )

Nah, sounds good :)

It certainly looks like it would flow fast thats for sure...

Actually, it looks like it could be the great grand kid of a Janspeed one that was a rip off of a Downton one.. they did flow very well.

7"! That's impressive. Why should only Webers get the long manifolds? :) But what do you do for air filtration? BFH or a smal box? I'd love to have one of them...

Cheers,
Jan

You can just fit either an offset K&N cone or a Ramflo filter in there, if using an HS6.
With an HIF44, I'm not sure.

However, many people run these manifolds with NO filter for `maximum power'.
Not me, I've seen how much crud an oiled Ramflo filter catches, on a road car.

... and they get 'maximum engine wear' thrown into the bargain ;)

Its a Howley HIF44 Manifold. (Part Number HMI-6)

What I'm mainly interested in is does it fit between the head and firewall without modification as needed for some manifolds?

All feed back and thoughts welcome :)

Thanks

Hey , PK did you get an answer in the end ?

If you did and your using the Howley with a HIF44 could you post some photos !!! ( just so other people have a reference )

I,m using a Howley with a HS4 in the "Snail" and with the K&N cone filter its fairly close to the firewall but I still have room to remove the nut

.
