Could someone please tell me whether a Mk 2 Cooper S delivered in April 1969 should have a Identification plate and also where the body numbers should be located other than the radiator shroud.
Many thanks Stephen

Hi Stephen,
No I.D. plate at that point. the body number is the number stamped on the radiator shroud which should be approximately 500 different from a number that should be stamped in the drip groove that is just above the wiper motor. This number is virtually impossible to read on most vehicles.

Be carefull if considering this car for purchase, be very carefull.
there are many other ways to tell if it is a genuine cooper s.

An April 69 delivered car should have a low car number. The numbers start at 501 and production only started in April so it should be very close to the 500-600 range.

Don't be afraid to ask for help identifying it. There is a lot of shared knowledge here.
