Tricks to drop the rear of the front subframe
Jack up the car and place on car stands, not under the centre of the floor but at the front edge.
Place a trolley jack under the engine to support the engine and subframe while removing bolts
Remove the rear subframe bolts from the floor
Remove the nuts/ bolts from the tower mounts
Disconnect the shock absorbers
Loosen the front subframe bolts, but they don't need to be removed, just loosened as much as possible
Disconnect the gear lever rear mounts/s
Loosen the exhaust brackets and maybe even drop the exhaust
Check the clearance between the carbs and the firewall and place a rag to protect both
Now slowly lower the trolley jack and with luck the subframe will drop enough to remove the rack
Remove the 2 rack u bolts and the rack should drop and can now be maneuvered out from the drivers side
It will be tight but can be done
Good luck

be careful with the front brake line where it goes from the subframe to the firewall, and taking the carb/s off is good insurance to avoid broken jets

that is a bit complex for me >:(
I might just pay someone to do it for me.
I wouldn't know how to disconnect the socks or find the front subframe bolts :/
I do have a haynes book of lies but it i have been told on more then 1 occasion not to trust it.

I have an aftermarket exhaust and extractors, Will i still need to remove them? If so i will get them to weld flanges to the parts as the guy wants to weld it straight on.

Don't get you exhaust all welded, you should always retain a clamp joint between the extractors and the pipe so that the exhaust can be disconnected for engine removal or other jobs like steering rack replacement :)

Got my sandblasting cabinet working, tandem compressors seem to keep up all right.

Slower than I expected but still works.
If anyone needs something blasted let me know.

Fitted the heater ducting. Fitted the rear window brake light. Adjusted/modified a few other bits and pieces. So many fiddly bits when you get towards the end of a resto. I'm hoping it's only a couple of weeks till it's back on the road, but there are so many little jobs that are just such a PITA!

Yesterday I drove 4.5hrs to imspect a GT, but was greeted with an expensive bundle of disappointment. On the way home we were going past another car that my wife had picked out, but I didn't really like, so we stopped in for a look and I ended driving that one home.

Today I put the kids seats in, and picked up a new head unit and front speakers, made room in the garage for it, and am about to put a nice new leather steering wheel in.

Put the new flywheel on and the new rockers. Photos show the old rockers next to the new ones.

Big thanks to Ken Nelson at Miniauto in Toowoomba for the last washer for the rockers.

Adjusted my hi-lo's now they have settled in. Might drop the back ones a bit as the flare is at 56.5cm height and the fronts are 55cm
