started looking for a replacement head for my Matic and preparing myself for another Mini mechanics bill !!

There is nothing special about a 998 Matic's head, it's just a 12A1456 (same as a 998 Deluxe really).
It's the rare Morris 1100 automatic (1098) that got the 12G295 Cooper head.

I have a couple of very good CAM4004 late 998 Clubby heads (same size valves as yours), PM me if you want one. Cheap.

Chrome trim moulding added for seam underneath doors.

Successfully swapped the park location in the wiper motor thanks to Dr Mini.

Gave it a quick clean for the big day tomorrow.

Fingers Crossed!

Fitted the LED lights along with the resistors to the mini caring trailer, so the BMW doesn't complain all the time!

Wheeled in out into the sun, looked at it for a while. Pushed it back into the garage. Need that engine back!

Tried to fit the new bushes and pins to my door hinges. The old bushes were shot! New bushes went in fine, but now the pins won't fit through. Looks like I should've opened up the hole in the hinge slightly before pushing the bush through. Any suggestions other than getting another set of bushes and putting them in after drilling out the holes a bit more?

Hi Matt
Don't drill out the hinges as you need the bush to be tight
I have had a few issues and wasted a couple of pin kits along the way
Couple of tips, make sure the pin is pressed in square as if off centre then it will destroy the bush and also press the bush in with the slightly tapered end first
Then once the pin looks like it is lined up and straight then bring out the BFH

Thanks Michael.

The problem is, the pin won't go through at all, and if it does, I can't see it moving freely in the bush. As I tried to put it through, it was just pushing the bush out. I've destroyed one bush so far, so I'm going to need to replace it at least.

Mini Deluxe is home for a service. Replaced the front brake wheel cylinders, checked the rear but they were good, replaced the rubbers in the brake master cylinder then bled the brakes, all good
Checked and adjusted the points, cleaned the carby fuel bowl.
Washed and started to polish and should finish tomorrow

Put him up on stands so I could start mucking about with the new brakes I bought a few weeks ago. Any tips for undoing the big-arse hub nut? 'Cos nothing much is going to happen if I can't get the old hubs off.

Also, any tips on where to get a pair of Y-pieces to split the single hose into a double to plumb into the dual ports on the four-pot calipers?

(I'll whack a pic up tomorrow to clarify, if that's any help.)

Made up a temprary dash panel to house a couple of gauges, tune-ometer and some speakers. Will be getting replaced eventually so it isn't to flash but definately better then the bare hole.

Finished buffing the deluxe, fitted an alarm system, fixed up a few rusty spots in the gutters, repaired a small rust spot in the rear of the bonnet. Looks like a few more evenings work until finished and ready to release back into Sydney traffic
