13 row cooler was standard on Cooper S, but unless it's a track car I'd not bother.
9-10 row is a toy really.
My 13 row has been sitting on the shelf for 9 years now, and it's staying there.
I can maintain 75psi at freeway speeds without one, so why bother... it's something else to go wrong, and it's in the road doing filter changes.

If your oil pressure drops on the freeway, I'd either get better oil, or reco the motor (if it's old).8)

The hoses run between the block and the filter housing, You need to remove the pipe that link them and either run rubber hoses or braided hoses to the cooler.
I fitted a 13 row last week.

If you want detailed pictures i am more then happy to take some.

Mine hits the dizzy and starter motor so i have had to move it under the alternator and use the longer clubman pipes.
I made a 3rd bracket to hold it in front of the alternator so it doesnt move.
I put some foam strips on the front grill so it does not rub and some rubber tubing between the alternator and the cooler as the gap is only 5mm.

Put spacers ~10mm thick on the screws, behind the grille.
I only use 2 screws (M6 bolts put through from behind, with locknut, & a nyloc nut on the front of the grille).

Original Cooper S had the spacers to move the grill forward.
I used the small irrigation hose pipe as used for drippers, cut to around 10mm long.

seems to be a lot of conflicting answers out there, would i be better off fitting oil cooler or another small radiator? i thought with the mini carrying so much oil anyway and the big finned sump that oil cooling wouldn't be a worry unless on a track.

Most people fitting oil coolers have never fitted an oil temp gauge so they have no idea if they actually need an oil cooler anyway. They just do it because they think it is the right thing to do.

I have seen problems from oil getting over cooled even without an oil cooler. You really don't want that.
The sump is a very efficient oil cooler, sometimes it is too good.

Unless you're gona be bouncing the engine off 7000rpm all day an oil cooler is totally unnecessary.
They seem to be the latest "in" thing to do. Red brake callipers make you shop quicker though

Bigger limit on the AMEX would help it shop quicker.
Not sure how red calipers would affect that.

Obviously you haven’t experienced the magic of red hammertone Sir. I bet you didn’t even know that you get an extra 20kph top speed by fitting Cooper S bumpers. Aerodynamic init?
