If anyone has any of the listed, can they please measure the overall width of the mentioned wheel / tyre combination?

175/50/13 on 5.5 inch rim = 185mm (for sime and yokko tyres)
175/50/13 on 6 inch rim = 190mm
175/50/13 on 7 inch rim = 205mm

195/45/13 on 6 inch rim =
195/45/13 on 7 inch rim =

Theoretically, a 175 tyre should be 175 wide, but this will deviate depending on what rim its stretched onto.

For example, a 175/50 tyre should be around 175 wide on a 5.5 / 6 inch rim, but on a 7 inch rim would be expecting the total width to be 200mm wide.

I'll get a photo of what I'm after and the first measurement tonight.
Anyone who can help chase these numbers up would be a great help.

Is the widest part of that the tyre or the wheel lip?

From the farthest outwards point of the face of the tyre.

Need any other bits measure ?

The sidewall is the widest part (I have the same size combo).

Interesting that the sidewall is widest on your wheel combo, I've seen a few 13 x 7s before with 175 tyres on them and the rim is the widest bit, though I realise some tyre manufacturers vary the width a bit.

Well that's with the rims off the car, so no weight on them. Also, I am unsure of what pressure they are currently at.

The tyre wall is only 2mm further out than the rim.

Just thinking, I know what the wheels are with the rims exposed now, its when people fut 165 tyres on 10x7 or 10x8 rims, which just look silly.

This is a visual calculator for tyre stretch/rolling diameter.

It will give you a better indication of the amount of stretch the rim/tyre combo will have, there are hundreds of these calcultors on the net.

The contact patch on the tyre shouldn't change, the shoulder is moulded in so the width of the useable part of the tyre is constant.

the bit that stretches is the sidewall, which is visually eluded to in the calculator.

After measuring a few cars, I'm finding that the tyre width size doesn't always match the tyres actual width. The online calculators dont really handle this bit.

Thats why I'm trying to get real life measurements. Not only to help me work out my next wheels, but anyone else with the ever-so-popular, 'will it fit?' thread.

OKay I'll give it a bash with the other measurements this weekend.
