I took off distributor and stupidly disconnected the leads from it. Can someone confirm which is the number one spark plug? Also look at picture and tell me if I have them in correct order? Distributor cap positioned how it is in the engine bay.

Also, there is a 4 on the inside of the cap, it is positioned between the 1 & 3 in that picture.

Confirm which is the 1 piston? Radiator side (right side of picture) or other side?

Convention is #1 is at about 1 o'clock, then number 3,4,2 anti-clockwise.

#1 is rad end.
Unless your dizzy shaft is out of position, #1 lead is wrong.
Also you have the leads mixed up, see my post above.

Is the 4 the zero point (on the inside of the cap)?

So would be 1-3-4-2 from the zero point anti-clockwise?

Ignore the zero point.
Put the leads in as I suggested in my post above, it should work- if it doesn't fire and run, move all 4 leads 1 place anti-clockwise.

It's been sitting for a while. Managed to get it started last weekend and drive for about an hour no dramas. Now just won't kick over :-(

Check the plugs.

If they're black as soot, it won't start.
Since the plugs are in the correct order, assuming you have fuel, make sure you're getting spark into the cylinder.

Have you wound it by hand so No1 is on TDC and checked where your Rotor is pointing? Just to make sure your Dizzy is correct as a starting point.

Cheers

Dicko.

Coughing n splattering but drove ok. After a few laps of the block it seemed better.

Now time to take the twin su's to get tuned properly??? Would that be causing the splatter etc or would that be a fuel issue?
