It's either 5 or 6 years now since I bought it half dismantled and with some dodgy repairs. Shell repairs happening as we speak, fingers crossed for 2013 as I would like to attend a Mini in an actual Mini. When I finish it will be better than new :D

Excuses: Canberra is bloody cold for 3/4 of the year, moved interstate, house renovations, appendix removed, ankle surgery x 2, TAFE at night, glandular fever, marriage, first child, limited talent, werewolves :o

3 years and counting on the cooper s. Both subframes rebuilt, small amount of panel and paint and engine rebuild currently in progress. Not to mention a whole lot of procrastinating.

What is D.A.V Frednutz?

D.A.V is Desert Assault Van. The name Watto and I gave to the van Frednuts donated to us for Shitbox Rally 2013.

I've got spark burns in weird places but its coming along nicely. An immovable deadline (the rally) certainly helps with the motivation. :)

Cheers,
Brett

wow some of the time frames are very varied, has any one had any big hurdles holding them back from there build or would it be financial? I know for me it was mainly financial other wise it would have been on the road mid last year but I just did what i could in the mean time and now it's back on track.

Ah ok lol I had no idea what that was supposed to mean. I was running ideas through my head and none of them were close to that. good luck with the build :)

Time with family takes priority over "shed time". I achieved a lot more before I had kids because I could often spend most of the weekend in the shed.

Part of the reason I've done so little with Trixie the Traveller is that easier or more urgent projects have leap-frogged it in priority.

Cheers,

I bought my Minis on the road and other than the Moke needing a gearbox rebuild which took Mini Classic 2 weeks to do and the Rover needing some electrical fixes, they have never been off the road to get back on the road..... just the way I like it....

The roadster project though.... 1.5 years and counting and all I have done is started him every now and then to keep the oils moving.... the parts are all their... the time isnt.

It may take us longer than we first set out to be but it's so much fun building them up. I definately want to do another one when i can :)

From stripping my Moke (took around three proper weekends) to receiving it back from the paint shop, it was about 3 months of occasional weekend work to get it back on the road.

I could probably have done it in a bit over a week if I worked on it at full-time hours.

But a Mini has a lot of other hanging/fiddly sh!t than a Moke!
