8 years for me. With a lot of down time, like meeting future wife, future wife becoming wife, finishing uni.
It was a rolling shell with about 8 crates of parts from 2 minis.
Eventually got it on the road when my wife told me she had organised a launch party for 6 months time. Her words "I've organised a launch party for November. You are going to look pretty silly at a mini launch party without a mini"
I got it registered the day before the party! And a good time was had by all, except the neighbours.

Five years and counting!! I am stuck with Uni and clinical placements, plus now recently a homeowner again. That has knocked a bit of wind out of my sails but determined to finish Henry by Xmas - on a promise for my twin boys to ave it done by the time they arrive for holidays...

Hooroo

Picked mine up in may 2009 with intentions of rebuilding the motor, spraying it and cleaning it up for roadworthy before i got my L's in july 2010.
With help from family and friends she was ready for roadworthy in november 2009 but we left her in the shed till may 2010 then had it sprayed..
And got it rego'd. 8)
Its been off the road a few times for little things which have taken a upto a week to fix..
But shes being driven and looked after now!!
So the build took 7 months but since then its had stuff done like discs etc..
So even though its rego'd and being driven im still adding and changing things so i say the build has been going for 4 years now!!

I just open the garage door and drive about 100 Meters down the drive way and I am on the road. But to actually build the car took me about 5 years doing the last one. You can's rush these things or you will end up with a half baked cake like many do unfortunately. Then you will end up forever fixing the thing.

Mines been off the road for 8 years but will be finished next year, new years resolution. I blamed it on having kids and paying the mortgage.

I've had the wife's `77 van for about 6 or 7 years; apart from the last 12 months it's been sitting outside under a tarp.
Still no progress, except the 1412 stroker motor which is built, dynoed and been run for 5000km in MY car..
Now, I first have to weld/patch the 2 back roof corners where it's developed a few holes..
Use MIG or oxy, that is the question.. nope I have no TIG.
Then it `just' needs a new RH front guard, new front apron, body prep and paint (acrylic), 2 subframes rebuilt (hydro this time).
2013 will see it on the road, I hope. :P
