Sponsor decals and stuff you can do what you want with, number legalities depend on the state and sometimes age of car I think. I've seen a couple of random cars round here with numbers on the side, saw a full v8 supercar duplicate the other day!

Isn't the scheme generic Martini Racing colours just more modern?

Duh! Why didn't I know that from all the classic Lancias and Porsches?
Okay, ignore the ford comment.

Okay, ignore the ford comment.

It is the Ford WRC scheme.
The Lancia and Porsche teams didn't have that combination of additional sponsors. (Valvoline, Telefonica, Movistar)

Just with a Martini logo on the door instead of the Ford.

Controversay!!

The paint scheme is an amalgamation of two (mainly) WRC Martini Focus schemes, one McRae and one Sainz, from the 2002 and 2003 WRC championships. We mucked around for a while with the various designs before settling on the one you see here, mainly because:
1) Everything else looked 'Porsche' and I wanted to try and get away from that as its been done to death
2) The Focus schemes fit the Mini size and shape better
3) I just love the Martini colour scheme, a long time fan, as I am of Gulf Western and Rothmans. I fell in love with the Group B Lancias and the Le Mans Porsches
4) There isnt much variation with the Martini scheme (as 16sth wrote), as the colours cannot be varied and they even have stipulations on how wide the stripes have to be etc
5) I wanted something that stood out in a crowd, and British Racing Green just didnt cut it!!

So, without making things just too damn complicated, that is what we ended up with, and personally, I LOVE IT!! I guess this kind of things is all very subjective and perhaps even polarising, but I think it turned out f*^king hot!!! All thanks go to Ashie and Steve for their time and effort into making what was in my head a reality!!

With regards to the race numbers, no stipulation from QLD Transport on putting numbers on cars either permanetly or temporarily!

More pics to come soon!!

Cheers,
Tricky

You mean Gulf Oils and not Gulf Western Oils.

It looks great, much nicer than red with a white roof and two white stripes up the bonnet!

Ok, I'll be honest.... Up until now, I wasn't really sold on your exterior style. I didn't really like the wing and not really a fan of most kitted minis.

But now with the stickers on, it really comes together and looks really good. The kit suits the "wrc style" perfectly.

Great work! , I can't wait to see it all finished. :D

Awesome, thanks for the kind words all!!
I was at one time a bit concerned as to the backlash of my choice in paint schemes, knowing it could be very polarising to some, but it seems that I have received overwhelming support for doing something a wee bit different and I thank you all for making the decision (in hindsight) the correct one - mind you, I would have gone ahead with it anyway!!

Here is a shot of the ass-end - its almost done!!

Enjoy!!

Cheers,
Tricky
