 Post subject: sump plug sizes

are they that different?

is there a specific size for a Mini-Matic or do I have some weird size that is not standard??

the generic one I just bought is tiny compared to my old one !

thanks Doc that's what I was told, but the plug on the left in this pic is the new one and the one on the right is the old one

have I been sold a dud?? because they are nowhere near the same width or threadsize

as a rough measure, my old plug is around 20mm wide whereas the new one is around 15mm and the washers I bought with the new plug won't go on the old plug!

aaarrrgggghhh !!!!

New plug is the right size, 15.8mm dia (= 5/8")
Someone has tapped sump out, probably now is 3/4 UNF or M20.

thanks doc!

have just put the loctite on and changed the oil again, so will see how it goes

If it's still leaking I'll go look for another plug elsewhere next week
