^Yeah you'll have to get the Tarox brakes shipped in - I recently (a few weeks ago) got a set of their 4 pots shipped here, very nice brakes :D Bought them after Mini Mad brought them to my attention, I was tossing up between Tarox or KAD. I'll post pics up when I get home, but they're similar to those posted above, just a bit smaller

Haven't bolted them up yet (I need to get some bolts made up to bolt them on, since they don't come wth the kit) but they seem pretty light despite being ventilated - the calipers weigh ~800g each, so that offsets the disc weight a bit in my mind  .

Total cost for the kit (calipers, ventilated grooved discs, braided lines, pads) came to a justover a grand including shipping at the exchange rate when I bought them (although the packing slip says it came to just under a grand  ). You'll need drive flanges to suit 8.4" discs, so if you don't have them you'll have to factor those into the cost as well (not sure about KAD brakes, they might be the same deal).

At current exchange rates it works out pretty good - with the euro where it was a few years ago it would have been a lot more...

Just fire them off an email for info, they're very busy ATM so it might take a little while to hear back, but they'll get back to you eventually :)

Stu

Drive flanges are from Karcraft, everything else is Tarox :)

I was having a look at their website and the spec list seemed to imply those 4 pots fit under 10s. Anyone know if they do? They look pretty compact for 4 pots

& just for the record,,, i`m not such a big fan of vented brakes on road minis,,, nor am i fond of heavy 4-pot things... so my ideal for road & occasional track use would be 2-pot alloy calipers on solid large diam rotors

Does anyone do a 2 pot alloy?

:?:

Most 4pots fit under 10's including the TAROX B20 - they are a very well made system better than KAD IMO.

I've had:
1. TAROX 6pot 9.2" Vented as posted by Dr. Mini - 13" Rims
2. TAROX 4pot 7.5" Vented - 10" Rims
3. KAD 6pot 7.9" Vented - 10" Rims

In 10" you can't beat the KAD 6pots for outright braking performance - they are literally the biggest brakes you can fit under a 10" wheel (not all) adn they are 1 piece radial mount so a serious bit of kit.

I use the Tarox 4pots currently in the daily and they are awesome i've had two sets, good pedal feel and bite from cold, fully sealed for road use and they are affordable.

The finish on TAROX brakes is great - the italians know how to make brakes - it's a more OEM look rather than the annodised alloy from minisport/minispares/KAD calipers and the finish is hard wearing. Apparently their unique o-ring seals mean the calipers can be used in amphibious cars too.

The only downside with the TAROX 4pot is the pads need to be sourced from TAROX (easily done just buy two at a time and when you replace a set order another) and the pad size is quite small (doesn't affect braking but if you do hard track work they wear quickly depending on what compound you choose so pad life can be lower.

There are a range of pad compounds to choose from and TAROX have always been more than helpful to me - I ordered their first 6pot mini kit made and they were very helpful.

Thats great to hear, I'm currently sourcing all the bits for my build and brakes are the current choice/dilemma, I have a set of contessas I want to use, and the build quality on those Tarox calipers looks awesome.

Are the pad prices reasonable? like on par with EBC?

Cheers for all the info

I paid around $90ea for my last sets a couple of years ago + shipping of around $50 (that covers two sets)

For KAD pads they are about $120 for Ferodo DS2500's + shipping.

They are about the same price as other fast road pads - It really does vary by compound though..see here:
