I am doing the same in JAM...at this very point in time.

Initially I cut and welded the heater mounting brackets further up the firewall, so the heater will sit under the dash more, and not next to my feet  (which I hate in clubbies).

Then I decided to give it the flick, but was told it IS NEEDED for rego in NSW (the demister part anyway). So I am keeping it, but won't hook up the heater. It will serve as a fan to blow air onto my windscreen only. That means I don't need the slide heater control for it, as all I need is 1 switch to turn on/off.

I am mounting ALL my switches on my dash, then making a new face for the part in the dash where the switches used to be. In this face I will put a covered provision for a radio. I am not running a radio in JAM, but there is nothing wrong with planning ahead, in case I want one later.

FatMaserati, you have a good plan there! I will love to see your finished item!

i've always thought the gap on the passenger side would be good for a cd stacker - if you could get one that fit there nicely. would be handy so you werent having to contort to change cds around.

I have ditched the idea of a CD stacker. Its too big and is thief bait. I have been using an Archos Gmini 400 instead. It fits in the pocket when I leave the vehicle and has a 20 Gig hard drive in it. Just plug it into the sound system and you have all the music you want.

A good mate of mine moved the switches into some wood paneling he put on top of his door bins in his clubby and ran the wires where the strap for thoe door goes and it looked pretty good as the wood matched his dash that he made. nice and easy to find in the dark.

I'm thinking of doing that to mine plus changing the switches to lit ones for even easier night time finding

Yeah, illuminated switches would be cool. What ones are ok to use instead of the mini switches? They should obviously have the same number of connections on the back of each one yes?
