Dear All,
In 1977 my father bought a MK 1 S for $210. It was pretty rough, sat in a paddock for 6 years and in 1983 at 17 years old my father said to me "its yours if you fix it up". It was originally all Marine Blue, did not have a white roof. It was a genuine S athough the engine had been changed to an 1100 cc unit, still ran the twin SU,s. Its original number plate was NSW EPH246
I had limited resources as a 17 year old, fixed the rust and painted it Holden Deville Blue with a CIG little Beaver. I also did some things that I,d be ashamed of doing today like ripping out the light blue westminster carpet and changing the door trims.
I sold it in 1985 to some people in Kilaben Bay, near Newcastle. They intended to restore it but never finished it. I contacted them and they said they had on sold it to a fellow in Wallsend,Newcastle. That was the last I heard of it.
I have a photo of engine bay and I have had a magnifying glass out recently and I think I can make out the number 2482 stamped below the BMC build plate.
I gave the number to the RTA recently and they said the number was
still on their books but unregistered. I would love to know if the car still survives as it was my first car and very sentimental.
Cheers, Scott.
