Thanks John, I didn't know this.

It is a constant worry when buying this sort of stuff in from overseas now, the suppliers seem to outsource to best price and don't give a rat's about the Quality. Or, check their goods are made right when they get them.

I'm sure most of us on here would pay a bit more, IF the quality was there.

I should also add that the diff pins we supply are made in a siimilar way
I am consantly trying to make sure that I supply parts of the higest quality possible
But I must say not everyone understands that quality often costs a little more
There are some parts that I just do not supply because of quality problems

Do you have a website or catalogue john ?

I am behind the times with My website, I have ben trying to build this myself but I did not
get it Done, However with some outside help good news is around The corner
I have sold Out of the Catalogues, We are now trying reprint them

John whilst you have always been extremely helpful whenever I have rung a website will bring you untold new business. I often do my mini shopping of an evening when all the shops are closed.

A member on here just got a new set of 1.5:1 Mini****** roller tip rockers from UK this week.
6 of the 8 adjusters were bent (like my recent forged/cast ones were) and the nuts all loose as buggery on the threads (ditto).
I gave him a set of s/h A+ adjusters and nuts, all seems good now.

Talk about spoiling their ship for a pennyworth of tar... these things are not that cheap! (but they should be, seeing as where they are made now).

Bought 8 new long brass nuts for the exhaust manifold.
All 8 needed a tap put through them so they would screw on with fingers.
And this was after I chased all the stud threads with a dienut. :x

It's a good thing I'm a machinist...

I tend to regret it every time I fail to do this when putting twins on with tight extractors.

add the new not made made in china cv joints to the list also
tested 2 that were bought in australia and they are too long in the shaft so the drive flanges wont locate properly, the rest will be going back to the supplier

Not ony car parts I'm afraid.

Won a 1Kg bag of mini easter eggs in a raffle last week. Wow! I thought, how good is this.

But they tasted like dog-sh!t

Looked at the label on the bag. You guessed it - Made In China

FFS :x

Thread revival.

With my large box full of small parts I started putting bits onto the 850 today. I thought I would start with the doors. First parts on are the rubber drain tubes from the window slider area down to the bottom of the doors. I had bought a brand new set from the UK.

They are cut to length and one end is swaged out to a larger diameter so I though they would fit... Wrong... The bottom end is meant to slide inside a steel tube but they are way too large to go in. I had to use the belt sander on them to make them fit.

Image

That wasn't too bad, just dusty and time consuming.

Then I went to put the handles together and found that the inside handle that is meant to clamp onto the 1/4 inch square rod that goes from the outside handle to the latch mechanism is way too big. It has a screw in it that is meant to allow it to be tightened over the square rod but there is no way that little screw is closing a gap that big. So the new handles are going to float around and rattle. Great.

I expect I am about to have a fight with my Newton Commercial door trims from what I have read over the last few weeks on here.

Why is it so hard to use new parts??

M
