Although with my offset bored 1380 the bk450 gasket was overhanging the bores all round so i went with a cometic one. With the head, if the coatings all nice still i would use it again.

And those hone marks in the bore look like emery paper marks to me lol

But don't let that get you down, you will have some fun once you fix up the head

i didnt wanna hear that :(

is there anything to do to fix the crack? its a shame to waste an s head

As Simon said it's just a 940 head, I'd pull all the valves, measure the stems for wear and if OK bung them into another 940 head with the seats recut to suit.
With or without unleaded seats. They stay put if fitted properly but not all places do this, there are some butchers out there. They can make an awful mess if they come out, on a race motor you are better off without them.

doc, am i better off running the larger valves in my road 1380 head or std 1275 valves?

also, he gave me a set of pressed steel rockers saying they were measured as 1.5:1 how can i measure the ratio?

Run the Mk2 inlets that it has. 35.6mm dia.

No pressed steel rockers are 1.5:1.
Standard they are about 1.21:1 unless they are 1275 ones (oval pads) then 1.25 or so.
At one stage Minispares and MiniMania were advertising offset bushed pressed steel ones as 1.5:1. This is BS there is no way to offset them that far and have a working bush. They advertised this as they had no stock of their forged 1.5:1 rockers back then.

I used to make my own offset bushed ones (.044" offset, a fair bit more than the ones sold) and the best ratio I achieved with 1275 rockers (Simon K's) was 1.35:1.
850-998-1098 pressed rockers with my offset bushes got 1.31:1.

I still have all the lift figures I found with S forged, pressed steel, and sintered rockers, tested on a block & 1275 head with same RE13 cam, same pushrod and a new rocker shaft.

[edit] here's a rocker with .044" offset bush (bored in situ).
As you can see there's no room for MORE offset.

Doc, In your humble opinion, would the Toyota rockers (1.4:1 something?) hold up to race conditions?? :D

Yes Mick there are blokes out there using them for racing.
But `rolla rockers are thin on the ground in the wreckers, they want too much for them now, and then there's about 10 hours machining work + materials to make them properly fit a Mini head.
But at least they are well made, unlike the current crop of cheap 1.5 rockers from (but not made in) UK.

[edit] here's the `rolla 1.46:1 rockers on my 1412 stroker...

I got quoted over $800 for an ST184 Celica steering wheel! No chance I'd be going Genuine for almost anything Toyota, especially when most of the aftermarket gear is still good.. and second hand toyota gear ain't that hard to come by.
Which model engine/Corolla are they out of?

The 1300 hi-cam K series, but I think the early 1100 Corolla used the same ones.
Basically any RWD Corolla.

There is a fair bit of work-
Bush the rockers back to 9/16" bore and face one side, see below.
Either make new rocker posts from scratch (lot of work) with the rocker shaft moved back ~4mm, or braze steel plugs into Mini ones then bore them offset in the lathe (how I did the last ones).
Bore or ream the rocker bushes to have .0005" (1/2 a thou) clearance, use a HD Mini shaft.
See the sticky thread in the mods forum.
