I have just started cleaning the engine bay out and noticed the front panel and welded subframe mounting brackets are in a bad way. There is rust in the mounting plate and the areas where it attaches to the front panel

If i purchased a new front panel, does anyone know if they come with the subframe mounting brackets attached to the new part?

Any suggestions on repairing or replacing this section would be helpful
Cheers

They do come with the front subframe mounts welded in place. If you could add some pics of your rusty panels that would help us give you more accurate suggestions.

It might be a bit to much to repair from scratch, unless you have some good panel and welding skills. Might be an option to find a secondhand replacement section from another mini that's well past it's usable life.
Is the passenger side the same (rusty) and is the rest of the apron in decent condition or what?

the other side is not as bad but still does not look good, the bottom of the panel is slightly bent up!

Im thinking of buying a new one from UK, unless someone has one they dont want on here. From what i can see it does not seem to hard to replace the whole panel (Hopefully)

You can buy from Australian suppliers (save $$$ on freight) or put up a wanted add in the "wanted" section, someone might have the panels you need.

another question about the front panel.... are parts aam1022 and czh563 the same?

One states pre 76 and the other is post 76 where the subframe rubber mounted on.... there seems to be various opinions on the net if the later will also fit a non rubber mounted subframe

Karcraft have the later and seem to believe it will fit the earlier subframe but just want some reassurance before i go ahead and order it
cheers

You need the pre 76 type front panel if you have an Aus made Mini. To fit the UK post 76 spec front panel requires Mods to either your subframe or the new panel.

Cheers,

Is that a solid mount conversion part?

I though the only way to use this front panel was to weld in a washer to reduce the hole back to "early" size.

Live and Learn. :)

Regards,

Regards,

No If You weld a Washer on the panel You still have a gap between panel and subframe.
If you use the 21A2624 it is metal and Rubber and fills gap between the grille
Panel and subframe, The 21A2624 is the same Mount used on the Rover Mini,
You can buy solid mounts for the grille Panel However for this area of the car
I do not think there is a need

Regards
John
