Awesome!

I'd really like to do a supercharged 7-port, looks fantastic.

You've completed a great build!

Well we survived the next dyno session :) Clutch was faultless but the fuel pump was a little to weak in flow so changed that over and finished this stage of tune.

I went in wanting between 100-110KWATW and counldnt be more happy with the result.

At 8psi we had 82kw
At 14psi was 105kw
At 16psi we had 108kw, so put it back down to 14psi, take a little advance out for safety and left it at 103.9KWATW with 170Nm so about 140HPATW

With the 3 port boost contrller it has the boost can be change on the laptop, 8psi is as low as it can run with how the wast gate is set up and is about all you really want or need on the street! At 14psi in the dry first gear above 4500rpm is useless and you have to be easy in second.. In the wet like it is here ATM, 1st,2nd and 3rd are all useless about 5000rpm just brakes traction as you roll on the revs with it not even floored

Il try and post the dyno sheet and video on the dyno again tomorrow as photo bucket wont let me log in tonight.. If I get time I'l try and take a little video of it driving 8)

Not sure if its going to be any good for hay but it will be there for who ever wants to have a look.

Thanks from a very happy Nathan.

good work Nathan, impressive figures for a 998.

very much the same as my 1275, i made 138 on 14psi at the last Ausmini sydney dyno day i went to, maybe i do need a cross flow and injection if not just for drivability and smoothness.

Grant

Here is the dyno sheet from the other week, not sure what correction factor has been used.. The dips in the power at the top end we are smoothing out, its to do with how the electronic boost controller doesn't hold it exactly at 14psi it dips to 12psi then back up to 14psi then 13psi then 14psi but you cant feel it when you drive it.

Sounds very cool in real life, the iphone doesnt really give it full credit, when driving it you get turbo flutter as you back off  I have a gopro now so will try and get some some vids of it.

After hay there is some new bits to go on, rear KAD disk brakes, 6 spot KAD type B calipers with 265mm alloy belled disks, machined down to 245mm to fit under 12by6 focrce racing 3 peace wheels.

After this is on its track time!
Thanks Nathan.

Well it's almost been a year since posting about the slo998 and that means it's almost hay again! I had to get the car re Dyno tuned to get things right after a few changes to the car.

I wasn't happy with the diff ratio as it was very hard to get off the line with the dog box with out having to launch it or slip the clutch lots just to get the speed up or the revs didn't drop right down and die.. So I changed from a 3.6:1 to a 4.2:1 and will see how it goes. Ultimately I think I will buy a 3.9:1 but will wait and see.
Image
The dog box still looks brand new, extremely happy with it!
Image

When the motor was out we pulled it down to see how things were going. First of all we noticed the head studs and rocker posts had started sinking into the head.
Image
Image

Next the 3 layer head-gasket had broken one of the layers, wasn't really blown yet but on it's way. I think this was mainly down to running anti-lag as it was between 2-3 right where the valve relief pockets are and the head studs losing tension after they had sunk in wouldn't have helped much!

Next we noticed that the chambers around the spark plugs had started to melt a little, again anti-lag prob didn't do anything many favors but it is cool seeing full boost at 3000rpm before the car has started moving while popping flames out the back 8)
Image
Image

So the chambers got relived around the spark plugs, decked to increase the comp to around 13:1 and I thought we would try some bigger valves as we had hit the wall power wise last time and it wasn't where id had hoped for.. The head was flowed before and after and compared to my old 5 port head that I had done at home years ago. Head now has 37mm inlet up from 33mm and 31mm Ex from 29mm, CNC muilt cut seats and CNC blended back to the ports.

I have been really keen to try different cams in the turbo motor and am extremely happy with the change!

After all that it was put back in with the new disk brakes front and rear and the new force racing wheels. It was locking the rears so I fitted an adjustable bias valve before the handbrake to limit the rear bias.
Image
Image

The brakes only just fit under 12's!!
Image
Image
Image

So we started tuning on low boost and got things rolling with around 80kw at 8psi boost about the same as last time but it kept holding the power to the rev limiter at 7900. This was increased to 8500. Then we started winding it up the boost, 14psi saw 103kw 16psi saw 115kw, 18psi saw 123kw and we tried for 20psi but the wastegate couldn't hold it without opening so only made 125.9 and was very dippy as you can see in the sheet! On lower boosts it was much smother starting to come on around 3000 and seeing full boost by 4500-5000.

Image

We backed it down to 17.5psi and took a few degs of timing out to make it safer and left us with 120kw.

I haven't really driven it much and it will hopefully be at a track day on the 30th and then going to hay. To say it's fast is silly.. Makes my 250kwatw Evo and near 300kwatw F6 ute feel like toys!

Can't wait to get it to the track!
Thanks for reading Nathan.

160 BHP isn't bad at all.
I'm assuming this is not a daily driver, what are your plans for the use of the car? is it road registered? (with a hydro hand brake and bias in the cab?).

The diffrance between 100hp atw and 160hp is hard to describe! At 100 it's very drivable, you could daily it even with the dog box once you get use to it. The car isn't really used for much, it was more of a challenge to try and push the limits of what you can do with a small bore, and a 998 at that! I had really wanted to crack the 200HP/L and I think we have done that now :) But it will be used as a track car mainly with a club run every now and again.

At this stage we have done a hardness test and will monitor how it goes, there isn't really any more to put spreaders on the rocker posts and with seeing that it sunk even a big foot print there is t much point doing anything with the studs at this point.
