yeah been running one for years, theres lots of different options now, bmw heads, xflow heads, swift or starlet engine swaps, but the sc-12 kit is probably still the cheapest way to make big HP and can be put back to stock easily.

This is really awesome news. And congratulations Ben!

How much are the two kits, do you know? And, where would one find a Sprintex supercharger for sale, and how much can I expect to pay?

Thanks NG! What have your thoughts been on the Sprintex kit? It looks the ducks proverbials!

straight from the source my friend, the S5-150's all you'll need, I'm looking at one of those for my future project (read distant dream). I think they're around $2K, maybe $2.5K..
here's the site: http://www.sprintex.com.au/sprintex/superchargers/

I've been in contact with Ben. I'm hoping to order a kit in the next week or two.

Thinking SC12 kit as I'll be able to get the charger cheaper (if I can find one)

The manufacturer intended this clutch to be operated based on intake manifold vacuum. If vacuum drops below 8"Hg the supercharger clutch is engaged. The clutch should stay on until the intake manifold vacuum has risen to over 10"Hg for a period of 5 seconds. This time delay is required to avoid cycling of the clutch during shifts and momentary throttle transitions. A delay circuit is required to replicate this behavior when fitting these units to other vehicles

The manifold vacuum during highway driving will be low enough that the SC clutch will stay engaged all the time with an appropriate controller circuit of this type

Great thread!

Just curious to know: How does the SC12 clutch wiring work to emulate clutch engagement? Given the original ECU isn't connected, how is the clutch engaged based on manifold pressure?

Is the wiring sorted as part of the kit?

My apologies. Just spotted this post about SC12 clutch engagement: http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=64896&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

FYI; Either switch it to be permanently on or use a mega jolt to switch off at idle (a bypass may be needed for equalisation when the SC switches off).

Im keen on one of these kits too. I'm trying to source an sc12 at the moment, just wondering what the difference is between the sc12 and the sprintex chargers? as an sc12 can be had for around $300 and the sprintex nearly 2 grand. Is it worth the extra money?

Yes, you will get far more HP with the Sprintex. It is way more efficient and gives a lot more boost.

^^^ this.

And the fact that the Sprintex units are new, better tech, etc. SC12's are kicking on 30+ years old now.
An SC12 will give you boost, will work well, but are getting old.. but it's speed= $$$ ... how fast can you afford?
I'm personally going with a Sprintex when the time comes, unless I find something that's around the same price and better all round.

yes.. bens kit is lighter smaller the blower is so compact it's the right size for the engine capacity.

they are only about $1500 direct or lower.

sc12's if you can find one seem to be going for $500 & they have done the rounds.

it's a bit more cash but in the long run it will work out better cheaper.

i have had few set backs with other crap but im moving forward now, so hopefully soon ill have this thing running.
