What Watto said. Just do it. These things were made to be driven, not trailered everywhere.

If we could drive across Aus and back with a tired old 1100 engine and tonnes of camping gear you can certainly do a holiday run with your rebuilt S engine and a five speed.

Cheers,

I'd leave the leads & coil behind, add a roll of duct tape, a few cable ties & a pair of pliers, and a can of Ssssshhhh. And maybe a 5L plastic fuel can (preferably full).

Hi Brett

i think the good preparation and minimal but functional tools kits works well.

as you would know from St george, the black road country can cause interesting potholes for a mini sump to hit, so i would suggest jacking it up just a tad on the hilos. the Blackbutt range road used to be one of my favourite bits of road before all the upgrades. enjoy the run and tell us how she went

I think for my first few trips in my new 850 - Nowra to Townsville (R) involved extra chockie bars, something to drink and an extra pillow to sit on...

On the last trip to Melbourne I found modern technology has provided some benefits - noise cancelling headphone.....

Just get on with it.

I've always got a phone and my Leatherman.
If things get serious I might take a shifter, some tape and a few zip ties.

Damn you for noticing.... :P Ok its its first run out of St George where I will not be walking distance to either my parents or mates places ( only 3 ways out of town) if something goes wrong... But its still like 40km + return...

Yes the Trailer is NOS ( Newish Old 6 years)

I've just done 500 miles in the Black S last weekend during the Australia Classic here in Cairns and Atherton Tablelands. Took all the tools, oil & water, spare dizzy with cap and leads (cause I installed new dizzy) and didn't need any of it! Ran like a dream. That KMX muck maintained steady oil pressure 70 - 75 all weekend.

Like others have said, drive it.

I subscribe to that theory - the more spares and tools you take, the less likely you are to need them. Take nothing but a phone, and all hell will be unleashed. :D

You must not have a lot of faith in who ever put your car together if you think 40km round trip is going to push it to breaking point.
