hi, im in the process of making a customised dash for my clubman. the one area i seem to be stuck on is fitting an aftermarket fuel gauge. Since fitting an aftermarket sender to the mini fuel tank seems to be in the too hard basket, what kind of guages should i be looking for that will work with the factory sender?

which ohms reads empty on a mini, and full?

Is there a way of altering this reading?

thankyou in advance!

See this old thread : http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=40463&highlight=

Smiths (early) are 20 Ohms Full and 260 Ohms Empty

Simply put most British cars of a similar era using smiths gauges are likely to be compatible.

(Also in the topic is a link on how to calibrate the gauges...)

Hope that helps.....

interesting read, i always wondered if you could hook up Bini gauges from the model with navigation in an original using electronic converter for the speedo, i wonder is anyone has tried this as i think would look quite cool using the 2 small gauges from a bini for a modern dash look.

incase some don't know which 1 im referring to

Bini gauges are all canbus and daisy-chain each other: its very clever because it allows any gauge to become any other gauge with a program change. You wouldn't get them to work in a classic mini though. I have, but not using much of the bmw internals.
