It's a type of card that motor trimmers use. It's worth using an old card as a pattern to get the right shape as it bends and curves into place.

Please keep in Mind that there are at least 4 diff types fitted to the round nose mini
1 Suit centre mound speedo Mini 850 Mini Deluxe
2 Cooper & Mk1 Cooper - S
3 Mk 2 Cooper S
4 Mk 2 Cooper S with Clubman style Heater
I Know This May be questioned, However The info above is correct

Hi John,

what is the difference between the MKI and the MKII versions? is the oval binical different?
I have an oval one fitted to my 850 and have tried several cards without them fitting that well, I have always wondered if it was just me and the oval is a litlte off centre.

Sorry to hijack the thread.

Grant

A friend of mine bought a convertible Mini and the Dash cards were made from Corn flake packets. Looked very professional he thought till he removed them to rebuild the car and they fell apart.

on The Mk1 the binnacle sits up against the trim on the dash card, the card has a section cut out to match the binnacle but the trim is a little longer than the card and does
not fold around the card it is left loose
on the Mk2 The card is cut to go around the binnacle and the trim is folded back over the card and glued to the back of the dash card
The Mk2 With the Clubman style heater the dash card is cut differently as the card sits
further forward because of the demister Ducts. There are other variations but these are the main ones

A friend used old suit cases he got from the Op Shop. Nice thick cardboard. Could be worth a try.

I highly doubt they do their own trimming there and not usually what you would expect a trimmer to fit. You should be careful how and what you say......a statement like that is pretty open to being seen as slander. Not good from a professional Tony.

I have to make a dashcard too , i'm either going to use thin mdf or most probably masonite " as it's flexible " as the dash is concave in the middle.

Cheers: Bill

This is the stuff. Holds a great curve, is easy to work and bonds well.

Inexpensive per sheet.
