 Post subject: wheel bearing issue!

according to the mini parts shops in England the tapered wheel bearing does not fit a drum brake car! are our minis different? if any one knows the correct answer i would be very gratefulll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They are totally wrong. Which shop was this?
Ball bearings and Timken tapered rollers are exactly the same outside diameter and are 1.250" bore.
The difference between a drum braked mini and a Cooper S disc braked one is the bearings fit on the drive flange with drum brakes, and on the CV with discs (7.5" or 8.4").
Timkens fit in drum brake Minis, no problem. :wink:

I can't say for all minis, but I was pretty sure that the bearings from drum brakes minis were the same as the discs. The cv joint are different however (unless you have the 7" discs I believe).

On another note, genuine timken bearings are supposed to be the best - the others can have the wrong preload.
