I'm trying to work out the history of my Mini.

Chassis number: XNHAB18Y 102075

I know the first part means it stated life as a Mini S Sedan 998cc (it's had a few mods since then!).

Can anyone tell me from the last six digits when in 1978 it was produced? As production ceased in 1978 I'm curious to know how far from the last Mini built in Australia mine is!

Cheers :D

You car should be dated around July and production finished in October.
Does it have a compliance plate? It should have a date on it.

Car numbers run up into the 105000's so you car is about 3000 away from the end.

Cheers Morris 1100,

I got home last night and just checked under the bonnet this morning to see the date on the compliance plate - my car doesn't have one! It should be on the drivers side inner wing near the fuse box? I can see holes where I remember them being on previous cars I've owned. Or are they hidden elsewhere on later models?

It should be up the front just behind the grille on top of the inner guard.

All compliance were in the same place on `Clubbies', someone has taken yours off.
Not needed for rego if the car has been registered before. it is not a `VIN' plate.

That's a relief. It's a real shame it's missing tho it would be good to pin down exactly how close to the last car built in Australia mine is.

Send a PM to John Sneddon. He is compiling a detailed list of Mini production in Oz.

The last car was car number 105303.
Your car is 3228 cars away from the end of production.

How many would have been produced a month?

About 900 a month, like I said earlier your car would be from around July.
Car 102852 is from July.
Car 101592 is from June.
Your car fits in between them.

Wow 900 a month! It makes you wonder why they stopped making them?

There was far more profit in assembling Peugeots.
