Now that my mini is engineered and legal, just waiting for my mod plate to get here and my second project has stalled due to waiting on parts from us (74' jeep cj5) i decided to start on my 1275 twin cam build.

Ive stripped my 1275 down ready, and ill be calling motorworks uk tonight to see what heads are in stock, still undecided on 8v or 16v, for the money i think 8v will be the go for me.

Still undecided on kits, force racing, specialist components or the mini man so any help here on who do go with let me know. ( ive got both books, mini man and specials components) and been having a good read, got some cast iron here ready to be machined down and a thread added to block old head studs.

Im going dry deck mainly because i can and i feel it cant hurt.

Currently chasing a remote gearbox to rebuild to go with this engine if anyone has one cheep, also have my old head here if anyone wants it not sure what its worth as when i pulled it down i found 1 of the valve steam seals is busted. pm me if you want it will help ship it aus wide, you pay shipping tho.

Last question my crank* has yellow/green paint on one of the crank wedges is this normal?

If your crack has yellow / green paint on it, then you need to pull up your pants

Were are you located?
I have one of Matt's kits and the parts seem fine, he's easy to contact and he's obviously on here so any problems or questions can be sorted quickly. I never looked at the UK kits because of the distance and hassle.
I also have enough cast iron threaded rods (two bits each about 2" long) to block off the shared stud holes so if you want it send me a message go for it.

Also what's the 1275 block your using? and do you know what size bore your going for? Forced induction or N/A?

The 1275 im using is like new, never overboard and stock bearings all round. going to + .020 or 1293cc

so it has some life left in it, nothing else is set in stone yet. Not aiming for anything stupid, going to be my daily car.

As for dry decking, i would avoid that as you will get extra plumbing off the side of the block and head which will most likely interfere with more important things, like oil drains, oil filler and turbo.

I'm not saying you can't fit the dry decking in with whatever other bits you are going to be using, but if you can, it will be more difficult.

No offence intended here but--> anyone writing a book about minis 30 years ago may not have experienced such worn or stuffed-with components as we are finding these days.

Not sure if i am allowed to or not but yes it is still for sale the link above is my head and kit from mat.

I just dont have the time, money or expertise to do the conversion.
It was just my hopeful dream at the time.
