I am interested to hear your opinion over which is the better way to go and why (working on the basis I had a choice of early or late bodies to use)?

Nb; there are more group nb minis and they are more competitive than a mini in nc.
Most of Those that have tried nc in the past now run nb

Nc Minis with flares on are too slow down the straight, compared to an Nb.. and they are heavier too.

In many ways very similar... outright performance comes down to $$ on motor and driver skill.

Nc tends to have more muscle V8 and 6's - so if categories split - it's them you're up against - so may not be as much fun if you want to be up front.... (they tend to get a bit serious)
Nb not so bad (though still have mustangs) - but more cars you can duel with - EH's, Jags, Cortinas, Imps, Alfas etc...
but typically Nb runs with Nc most times.... hence why many call for under and over 3000cc split.....

.. but usually no matter what you get to dice with people of a similar performance.....
.... even though I'm at the "back of the pack" - I still come out with a grin from ear to ear...

One of my last races spent chasing an EH - last lap and the red mist hit - he out braked and went off track and I got by... I then went wide and he caught up....
Drag race to the finish line - and he beat me by a whisker....
All we could say afterwards was "Wasn't that great..."
He came 20th - me 21st of 23 finishers..... and was a better race than ones where I've finished higher...

Regarding weight, i thought Ncs could be lighter. They are allowed alum doors and boot, and some perspex ??? not sure. Bigger tyres may negate all that weight saving, but should add grip.

Depending the fields where you race , i would say more muscle cars in Nc ( torries), which can mean lots of different speed differences depending on tracks.

I think you should look at the NATsoft, mylaps info from tracks around you and find the group you know more of .... cheers

They are all 'Cooper S's'...even the 850's and Deluxes!

The group N category was specifically created to allow non race heritage cars a run, so long as they meet the criteria specs...... i gather due to age, rarity or pressure, so long as the body is pre 65 for Nb and pre 72 for Nc then all variants are allowed, but must run Cooper S trim ... right done to the over rider bumpers and chrome strip in Nb.... so as monaco says deluxe, 850 etc bodies all allowed. Engines also would have been originally Cooper S Id ( 9FSaY as example) but now any 12 prefaced engine block with all the same internals are okay... you don't need the follower chest if running a 12G940 block.

Similarly in Nc - lots of GTR/ XU1 , Phase 3 HOEysetc ... that really are of more humble origins ... ( and all legal and above board and as long as no one tries to sell as a genuine article i am happy that more people get to run a car.
