Is anyone floating around Newcastle who might be able to assist with a diff and synchro change. Engine is out and gb is off... But we just don't have the expertise! Dad is retired, has the time and is tinkering away for me as we speak. He's already contacted and been turned away by Newcastle gearbox and diff. He's spent his life around Morris' and mg's but he's a bit stoinkered by minis!

For proximity to you , i'd give Tom & Lincoln ( Parts & Panels ) a call as Boostedmini said .
A couple of mates up here have gearboxes done by them .

When we owned it and I did that (Mini K) gearbox up, I replaced all the bearings and some of the synchro baulk rings.
2nd gear synchro was never good even with a new ring, IMO whoever does the box up now should fit new detent springs to the 1-2 gear synchro hub.
Minisport's ones are stronger and work well, see http://minisport.com.au/prod1437.htm

I find some springs sourced from UK now are too weak.

[edit] Evan, you might also consider fitting a Cooper S/Clubman GT 1st motion shaft (18T) and 22G1040 cluster gear, to give Cooper S internal ratios.
