The real question is..."are the rear diff casing from a Mini and 1100 the same? ie can you redrill an 1100 casing to suit a Mini remote shift??

No. I don't think so but will have a look tomorrow.
But I fitted an 1100 diff casing to a Mini K box for Morris 1100, it's in his car with the infamous `scatter crank stroker' on top..

No.
Different amounts of metal in different places.
Different shapes.

But apart from that...

Gears set in the common Oz rodchange box is the same as in a 4 synchro remote one (Mini-K) except reverse gear fork slot. So they are equal strength.
It's easy to put Mk2S ratios in these boxes, you just need an 18T 1st motion shaft (4th gear) and a 22G1040 cluster gear.
Both are stronger than the old 3 synchro magic wand or remote boxes. They were weakest on 1st gear if hammered, followed by 2nd gear.

Later rodchange box A+ etc has a 1/8" bigger idler gear shaft, an 18mm mainshaft nose bearing, and a bigger needle bearing in the 1st gear end of the cluster gear. So yeah it's a bit stronger. Not sure about gear ratios....

I like remotes, the shift is more precise, IMO. As long as linkage wear is eliminated by rebuilding or replacing worn parts. Some shift parts are now NLA but can be reclaimed by hardfacing.

Mini mania have a late model gear cluster in a remote box, takes some machining work.
