Looking through my collection of spares for an engine mounting plate (the one the bolts onto the passenger side of the gearbox and supports the radiator) when I came across this little unit.

Image

As you can see it doesn't have any captive nuts to bolt the engine mount onto, but it does have them for the radiator. Also the holes for the engine mount are probably 3/8" rather than 5/16"
There's no sign of it ever being tampered with, so I guess it's an original part. Any ideas what model this could have been off, I'm guessing very early 850s :?:

Thanks,
I'm presuming it will still work in a Mini situation
Did the Morris 1100 have a different engine mount with 3/8" bolts or did the 5/16" ones just rattle around?

Morris 1100 had two Morris Minor mounts attached to a plate behind the timing cover, one front one back.

You can see the front one just under the alternator, just.

Ash.

yes morris 1100
the early 850s had a piece of sH1tmetal excuse for a thing they halfar$ed that nearly all of them cracked before they even left the production line,,, ok maybe didn`t crack that quick but not far fromt it :-)
hence the new design you one show here but yes with the captive nuts for the mount
