My mate purchased a morris van and is trying to firm up the year/ month of the car. He believes it's a 63.

The info he has.

Yjbav.1r
Engine number 8y/u/h5911
Chassis number 922

Around March/April 64 is my guess.
The Van was released in Australia in Feb 1964.

Don't know if this has already been mentioned, but during my recent rummaging through my own mini parts ('62 850), I notice the date of manufacture was stamped on the bottom of the starter button soleniod of mine. If it's push button start, and the original starter solenoid, it might me worth having a look.

Tez.

Not much help for identifying the year but just some general info!

YJBAV1.R – Y stands for Australia; JB Morris commercial; A- 1/4 ton; V van; and 1 = 1st model in series. The R is for right-hand-drive.

All BMC cars chassis numbers started at 501 and the body numbers at 001.

8Y/U/H, 8 = 848cc; Y = Australia; U for centre-exit gearbox; and H for high compression.

Engine numbers began at 1001.

Based on your chassis number I'd be guessing early to mid 64!
