So a few weeks ago I fitted my kit into the dizzy (Dad was a bit peeved that I pulled the whole dizzy out 'changed everything about' then put it back in and started "perfectly", still need to re-time her but she runs well enough) I didn't go about fitting in the black box as of yet thought I would get to it in future. But what sort of curves are you guys running? what is the best way to work out what curve I should be running? or should this be all set up on the rr? most probably with the help of mini classic..

For a start you can plot your curve against the published curves in the workshop manual, and then you can go from there.

Whether you use trial and error or a dyno you can choose, but the standard curve is your jump off point.

In my case, I used my dialback timing light to work out the curve from the Pulsar dizzy I had in, then put that map into the black box.
I've massaged the curve a bit since, but it was close to being correct.
My curves are shown in the Stealth box thread.

[edit] Here's my current map, note I add 10deg all to these points (by setting dizzy @ 10degBTDC, not at TDC) because of my race head's bathtubbed chamber shape.
