I recently looked at a Mini K that was for sale. It was resprayed on the outside but knock me down it was originally black from the BMC factory. I bought the car and plan to restore it sympathetically.

I would like to know if anyone else knows of another black Mini K with parchment interior trim or if anyone knows of the history of my car which has body number 3444.
Cheers,
Clint

Thanks Steve. I want to get around to your garage to check out the Marcos GT as well. Not sure how to add pictures to the posts.

There are a few Black cars from the factory but they are quite rare especially later in the 60's and early 70's as black became less fashionable. Normally the result of a special order.

I know of a couple of genuine black Mk1 Cooper S. The ID plate simply says "BLACK".

So your car may have been part of a special fleet order or may have just been either end of a batch of a special order. e.g. half a dozen Vans are painted black for a company fleet and a few cars get the black at the same time.

Thanks for the feedback, Phil. I tend to agree that this car was a special order of some description. The colour plate was hand written 'black'. Would really be good to find some history on the car but to date I've had no luck. Cheers mate.
