Here's the build...

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=vzABF3Ycs6Y

Then I knocked the cam in

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_9l8FOlAW4

Dropped the oil, put in some fresh and went for a drive , the rest of the running in was done on the rolling road with some millers running in oil. Then dropped ans put some millers ctv in.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=H4ZakR9GbfU

Then we found that the 38mm carb wouldn't supply the engine so I tried a hsr 45, brand spanking new but couldn't get the thing to pump enough fuel at the top end

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2fp5cfS1Jho

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6ZnNqo1F9F8

So we moved to sc 5 port injection sold to me by and aus mini member, god knows how many mile the kit had done before it was bolted onto and engine... We then added some meth to the water injection

Hi Graham , i know it is late in the piece (two years) , but i am interested in the fact the you couldn't get the newer mikuni type flatslides to keep up with an approx 90 hp at the fly motor...... 61 atw in a 1060 is pretty dang cool , so i am not knocking it at all.... but the new mikunis were given a bit of a big wrap on this forum a little while ago, as better than SU or weber etc.... and i was and am still to see proof... if i understand the mechanisms, the flatslider gets rid of the butterfly in the road , so potential for better flow or what is probably more important allows to slightly downsize the carb ( to say 42 from 45) to improve charge velocities... so in theory i slight advantage to the new kids on the block, in terms of immediate response and flow potential BUT i note your little SC monster leaned out a 38 and a 45 mikuni. Did you try different settings on the hsrs( i think you have 3 ' jet' options) or was it just easier all round to go injected... any comments, thoughts on the bike carbs would be interesting Cheers darryl

Hi the car at the time of the hsr45 was producing 90atw so maybe 110-120 at the fly.

The car was much more urgent on the throttle lower down this was helped with the pumper jet. It would then lean out. We had it on the rollers without the sock on and I could see the fuel just disappear. We tried making the needle thinner to assist as the top end, but it didn't help.

Maybe the carb was too big but look at the flow figures it should have been about correct.

I did some searching and found that they make a big jet kit for large bikes. The includes a deeper nut where the jet is held to allow the fuel to be more available I guess. I did buy all of the bits from the USA to try again and I found an sc 5 port injection kit on here which I got and sold all of the hsr stuff.

There was a guy who produces them for the mini in the USA and he mods the pumper jet too. I guess to help with the larger fuel flow transition at the top end. But I'm just guessing as I didn't go any further.

I will say the cv style bike carb was great on the car and once fitted never needed tuning. I could only get my hands on a 38mm and it just got too small as the hp went up.
The largest I found was 41mm from and r1 carb. But they were hard get get over here as they are always sold in a set of 4... So get expensive.

The hsr45 has some fantastic flow figures it just needs someone to find what works...
A supercharged car probably needs a little more flow than a n/a car.

One thing I will say they are a load less worn out!

Good luck with your choice
