Just in case anyone was wondering...
I picked up the mini from the mechanic yesterday. He'd pulled the carby off and given it a clean out, he reckoned the jet was a bit blocked or something. He thought maybe because of the angle, some water had gotten in there during that massive storm last week. Must've run in down through the air filter (k&n cone filter on hif44) or something. Has anyone heard of this happening before?
Anyway, it's running better now. Still doesn't seem quite as good as it was after Greig gave it back. At least I got a month of it running well... I'm a bit over this car. If I could get a decent price for it, I reckon I'd probably be just about ready to get rid of it and move on with my life!
Thanks again for the help team.
Yes! we were wondering!

Water splashing up under the bonnet is more likely when driving rather than just sitting there...but if your K&Ns were wetted with oil (are they that type) that should have repelled most of it.
Sounds like you may have got a bad dose of fuel if just a simple clean of the carby made it run...beware of more trouble then if the tank and lines haven't been drained...
As for being over Mini's...well, they are not for everyone because they do need a little maintenance unless you plonk in something Japanese under the bonnet (maybe)...generally though, they are reliable once sorted
