What is the difference between the standard and Cooper S diff side plate?
I know the ID is larger on the S,
But is the OD for the seal the same or also larger?
Can you modify a standard side plate to fit the S?
(S being Hardy Splicer Joints)
Thanks in advance.

I thinks the o/d of the seal is slightly large. 47.3mm o/d normal and 50mm o/d for the S type.
Thats what I found looking on the web anyway.

some later Moke side plates can be modded (bored) but I just use Morris 1500 side covers with a minor mod (skim).

The S seal is 1/8" bigger on OD and ID. So is the bronze bush, and it's 5 times dearer than a Mini one.
So you have to bore the cover for both. And then fit & bore the bush, as they are supplied ~.007" undersize.

The side covers to bore out are the ones with a machined ring on the outer corner, where a shroud was fitted. I think Mini K and early Clubby had these, as well as the Mokes. They have no part number on them...
These covers have more meat around the bush than the early ones.
