Hello all,

I've been slowly trying to get my mini on the road but I can't get it to run right. It will start fine but will idle a little rough and anything more than 1/4 throttle seems like its over fuelling and will stall if you don't lift off the accelerator. It doesn't seem to matter if the engine is cold or at running temp.

After eliminating just about everything else I'd say the issue is with the carb, if this is the case what would be the way to rectify the issue? Would it be worth removing the carb and getting it serviced?

Any help would be appreciated

Cheers

Simo

Do you have a tacho? Is it stable or waving?

It could be a number of things wrong with a carby - needle, filter, mixture, etc

Hi,
If you are going to get your Carb serviced in Townsville, take it to Mike at MBS- Auto ( Formerly Kennys Holden Wreckers)
http://www.mbs-auto.com.au/
Mike has been servicing & tuning my cars forever including my: Twin SU, Triple Strombergs and Weber applications.
Good Luck with your little beast

After having stalled which you believe is from over-fueling have you pulled spark plugs out to see if they are wet?

Is it an issue with current rpm or a change in rpm? Issues with the change in revs are often the carby's dash pot oil being too thin/ too thick/ not there.

For example, if you suddenly accellerate and it splutters and dies, I'd check the dash oil first. If you can *very* slowly put your foot down and bring it up to a decent amount of revs without issue, it may be that.

Do you have an in-line fuel regulator?

I think that it needs a going over by someone who knows what they are doing. I think at this stage I like the idea of mbs auto, I think I'll have to get it tuned to run smoother anyway before getting a road worthy. I might as well get it all done at once.

Cheers

A lad up the road from me had similar symptoms. After a recon'd engine, the mechanic did not set the tappets up properly. A quick adjustment and reset and the motor was all good. My suggestion is check your tappet clearances.
