Greetings All.

Bought a 12A408 Thermostat housing as this has a thread for a temperature switch. I'm fitting a Thermo fan.

The kit came with a 70c switch, which is way too early, and also a different thread (probably metric).

What thread is the 850 12A408 housing?? Is it 3/8 BSP???

Any ideas where to get a switch, the right thread and cuts in at (say) 90c

Cheers
Alex.

more likely to be 5/8 UNF - take it to a bolt shop and they'll tell you

Thanks Simon.
Went to Repco and they sent me to another place (Shipways)

Turns out they are M16 with a 1.5 pitch.

Obviously made for modern senders / switches.

I had a Mitsubishi Magna switch which fits perfectly.

Now I can look for a new switch.

Cheers
Alex.

I hate how they now put metric threads in aftermarket Mini stuff.
Case in point, new spin-on oil filter housing. The thread `appears' to be M14, good luck screwing the oil pipe flare nipple in properly. M14 ain't the same as 1/4 BSP....! You might get 2 threads engagement.
