My rockers are the classic pressed steel type not Cooper S, probably the only standard bits in the engine. Explains why I'm curious about the options available. i.e. if I could gain 10 hp by installing decent overhead gear, why not. Thank for your input.

I have minispares 1.5 rockers in my donk, they seem to open and close the valves just like stock rockers..... But hey, there purple and made of alloy. Xx

There won't be anything like 10HP more in a road motor if you fit hi lift rockers. Best case maybe 1/2 that.
Depends on the cam too, some do not like 1.5 rockers.

Gotta say I have to disagree with that, so maybe the answer is still 'it depends'.

My 1380 with big valve ported head is 'nice' with standard rockers and RE13 cam. Good even power throughout range. But with corolla (~1.46) gear fitted it's a completely different motor. Power moved up the range as you'd expect, but it's way more than a 10hp difference at the top end. I don't have a dyno readout to prove it, but sometimes the difference is enough you don't need a dyno. I took them off....too much off a PITA around town!
