Hey guys just curious is a dry subframe the same as a hydro?

My hydro frame has a few cracks in it and I beleive its bent. I got a blasted and painted dry frame here just wondering if the hydro will fit in it?

The top of the front towers where the hydro sits up against is slightly higher than a dry one where the cone sits up against.
I know you can put dry into a wet frame with hilo's, but don't know if you can go wet into a dry frame!

Cheers Shane

Hydro frame has a bayonet bracket inside, to hold the bag. Dry frame does not.
So yeah you can put a rubber cone into a wet frame after you bash the bayonets in, but not the opposite.

Greetings All.
Sorry to cut in, but I've been curious about front frames.

Are all dry front frames the same?

Will a roundy fit a Leyland '78?

Thanks
Alex.

Yes the Oz ones are all the same mountings, wet or dry. We never got the Pommy rubber mounted single bolt ones.
Years ago I put a 998 minimatic lump with hydro into a `76 Clubby, bolted straight in.
Be aware the dry frames have an oval spacer on top of the towers, hydro frames don't.

You could carefully remove the wet bayonet fixings from your bent subframe and transfer them to a dry frame. Just a thought, they were only spot welded.

What do these bayonets look like? I'll be removing them when I do a dry conversion in the near future.

Mitch has front hydro frames in his gumtree add. Any of them any good?

just little tabs that lugs on the side of the bags lock in to - push bag up, rotate to lock

I put rubber cones in a hydro car once by just grinding slots into the cones to fit over the tabs... worked fine
