righto, so I've got my 1275 auto out of a rover mini. Would like to freshen it up a bit before dropping it in. Can you guys suggest a good shop to take it to? I'm in Canberra but in Sydney a lot. Was gonna take it down to Melbourne to Len Read however logistics are not working on my side just yet! so was thinking sydney should be much easier.

also, what should I be budgeting? first quote I got was 1500 for an easy peasy not very much needed freshen up.

which went up to 4k and seems to be around that mark generally. (sometimes I think I'd be better off buying a 1275 manual) but wife does not want a manual and its a bit of a headache to convert the car to suit manual anyway (i'll probably just get another mini)

but yes, comments and suggestions please? guy I'm getting motor off said I can get away with just honing the head. which I hope is the case. but that said he never had the motor in his mini. so at the moment I'm shopping around as to what to do.

I think chuxx mentioned his mechanic had a 1340 or so mini matic. Would be keen to do that!

I'd get Greig Malaure (Mini Classic) to quote on it. He has a 1430 in his `matic, not a 1340.
He does up Rover automatics, he built Chux's motor too.

Definatly Grieg, he will do good work.
But I know the first thing he will say is, You have to do the gearbox too. and he's right. Don;t pull the engine down and rebuild it and then stick and many old box on it. Especially an auto. Rego the box as well. Yes, it will cost you more, but will save you more in the long term.

Cheers
Aaron

In Canberra I get these guys to do my work :
http://phillipheadservices.com.au/

But doubt they do an auto box reco.... but engine / head - no drama.
(Pretty sure they outsource manual gearbox work to a guy in our club.)
