ok all, the project may have just recieved its first "Kickoff"

A Guy came around yesterday looking for a fuel pump for his moke, ... we got to chatting, and it turns out he has a second moke that he doesnt need...
No canopy, no engine (Perfect  ) and a fair few bits missing.... $200

One of the major bits missing is the compliance plate AND the radiator shroud (missing chassis number)

Is this insurmountable ?

Being replacable panels, can i just get a new radiator shroud panel from M&M world and have it stamped with the number from a plate that i source from elsewhere ?

Anyone ? - Its for a good cause.... RXMOKE needs a body-shell.....

for 200 it is worth picking up. even if it ends up as a motorkhana special. Hmmm Don't you have a new turbo going on the mini..... spare turbo + Moke shell..... Thoughts have to be going thru your head. It just has to be done.

Cheers

Aaron

"RXMOKE"

as in RX-7 Moke ...

As in 12A Rotary in a Moke
As in 12A Rotary Front Wheel Drive in a Moke

Pffft turbo .....

But seriously, if i can get it in and working, then there is a potential for people all over the world to stop f**king around and actually start putting Rotaries in minis ..... seems to be the second question and mini modifier asks .... 8)

Well, its begging to be done, and I'm a stubborn enough bastard to do it....Turbo'd a 998 against everyone better judgement didnt I ?

he he he

The rotary powered Sportsedan had the engine beside the driver with a Hewland gearbox on the front of the engine. Not realy suitable for a road car and it was not legal as a sportsedan!

have always wanted to but a rota in my moke (had rx2's & rx7 for about 20 years)
the best thing i rekon about moke is handling, steering ,suspension, plus other things of corse. so i'd make mine rwd (mid mount rota behind front seats) with a modified front subframe in the rear that way steering and suspension stays same. put large fuel tank and radiator in front where motor was to keep things balanced. gearbox would be subaru, maybe auto so linkage is easy. gearbox would almost be hidden from rear.
i rekon this would be the ultimate sleeper! if it could be done. and mine would be called REMOKE.
did see a fwd rotary mini sports sedan years ago at morwell hillclimb.

Im sure you could, say, er, miraculously locate (cough, cough) your Moke's missing compliance plate.

Then simply stamp the number from the complance plate on the body in the vicinity of the radiator. :P

(may have to talk to a certain Novacastrian about some pre-72 compliance plates. . )

It is technically illegal as you are rebirthing a car. No wrecker if they value their license is going to sell you a compliance plate or body number. having said that it is done quite regularly and as you are not thieving and not profiting what is the harm? I think you will have to find private sources for your compliance plate. Writing about things like this on forums is best avoided. PMs are the go.
