Craig, amongst the hundreds of other things I seem to get involved in this is where we currently stand. I have contacted Ron Adlam of the NSW mini car club for assistance. Since they are the best local contact I was hoping they could take the lead on this one. Ron is currently on holidays and hopefully can do something on his return. We had a meeting last week of all the QLD mini club representatives regarding doing something at Lakeside next year. The event is in its infancy but will coincide a round of the East Coast Mini Racing Series (which is set to move to one of the premier racing events held at Lakeside) i.e. either the Lakeside Classic or Historic Lakeside weekends. The plan is to have a joint gathering of all clubs, i.e. Cooper Register, QLD Mini Car Club, Mini Owners club of QLD, and Club MINI. The event we hope will consist of a show and shine, Lunchtime laps of Lakeside for road registered cars. Up here the Parade Laps are fairly loosely controlled and as long as you are sensible a moderate pace of speed is encouraged. The weekend being in conjunction with one of the premier race events will have racing from both Group N, Group C (of which there are a couple of minis) as well as the ECMSeries.
Like I said this is all in its infancy but if all goes to plan is definitely one for the calendar.
As far as Bathurst goes, I can't run this one as I just don't have time. Is there anyone on here who would like to volunteer to take the lead and push this event. I for one am happy to assist as its not my first rodeo, and as Craig has expressed, he too is happy to provide assistance in the form of publicity.
Come on guys how about a bit of assistance to make this happen. All it takes is a few people to work as a team and its on its way.

Further to this post, I spoke with Caroline O'Shanesey yesterday and she is keen to drive her ex-Bathurst mini at the event during the lunch break as well. Should be great to reunite her with the old car as she missed out on driving it at the mini 50th.
