yea, definitely paint the floors with primer / colour only. That stone guard / sound deadener will only trap moisture and hide rust...which you dont want!

I stripped my floor panels to bare metal. Rust primed them and then used bitumen-based deadener over the top. The floors are always dry as a bone.

Under the carpet I've got thick household "horsehair" underfelt.

On the underside, I've got deadener coated in chassis black. My wheelarches are done too.

If you really want to kill noise, go see the sound-off guys and spend some bucks with their sound deadening matting.
