I have just cleaned up the old roof rack. still needs some work i might get it powder coated.
it was always on the Mini when i was a kid it was the only way we went away in the car being loaded up with luggage. :D
I have searched the web and found a patient for AB eric joos malung-sweden but it shows the hoop type roof racks.
http://www.google.com/patents/US3512082
does anyone know anything about this particular roof rack. was it made for a mini is it generic or rare
thanks

nice roof rack on a very nice mini :)

correct me if I'm wrong but the legs adjust in and out, so it ought to be a generic one made for any old car of the era - beetles, minis, volvos etc.

My dads 1967 XR falcon had the exact same roof rack. He put it on in the early 70's

Same as what I use on my Mini :)

The legs seem to be as far in as they go - perhaps the Mini was the smallest car they were designed for.

Actually have a few, I assume not overly rare - the best one was found in the hard rubbish, it still had the proper protective rubbers on the clamps!

Perfect size for carrying a spare door haha

The 1970 catalogue shows Kennard roof racks which look the same as the BMC accessory racks.

I don't have much to input aside from that they look awesome and I want one! Haven't seen that type of roof rack until now.
