Because mine is a 77 and i have left the charcoal canister in place so it looks like it would comply with the more stringent ADR's.

A PCV valve (or the vac port on the side of a later SU) pulls a slight vacuum on the crankcase.
Benefits for road use:
Less engine smells in the cabin.
Less oil leaks through seals.
Less or no mayo in the rocker cover during short runs in winter.

For track work I used to clamp the hose on the PCV and run both breathers to a catch tank.

re the PO's timing cover breather, these were never used on the Morris 1100S; it's probably off a 1275LS.

Thanks doc, I do have lots of smells in the cabin from the engine, I'll be sorting this out soon. Cheers, Richard.

You shouldn't need a catch can. That's mainly for racing or bling points.
I would route the 2 main blow by areas ( Rocker cover and Rear breather ) into the inlet manifold via a PCV.
The other breather from the drop gear housing should have less oil so I would run into the aircleaner. There will also be an unrestricted path for air to go back into the engine if the intake manifold sucks to much at idle.

I have no inlet in my manifold and I run socks on my weber. I need to run a rocker cover and a flywheel breather somewhere. Thoughts?

Do you have a weber box? You could run the hoses into a catch can then into the box with the weber socks. That will suck up any smells. If you don't mind the smell then just put a filter on top of the catch can. It may be worth the extra time and effort to drill and tap a thread in the manifold. What manifold do you have? Mine came with 2 threaded blanks.

I was playing around with my setup this week because I was getting oil out my dipstick whenever I went over 6500prm. The pcv valves could not cope with the blow-by alone so I have gone back to the catch can with a top filter instead of a fully sealed system. Image
